Treehouse Hotel, Manchester
WCM was appointed as Principal Contractor under a JCT Construction Management contract to complete the project following the failure of the original Design & Build contractor.
Located on Deansgate in the heart of Manchester city centre, the project presented a number of logistical challenges, requiring careful planning and coordination to minimise disruption to the surrounding area while delivering a high-quality refurbishment.
The Project
The scheme involved the transformation of the former Renaissance Hotel into the nature-inspired Treehouse Hotel Manchester — the second Treehouse Hotel to open in the UK.
WCM delivered the refurbishment works from the ground floor through to level 12, including:
- 224 guest bedrooms
- Pip restaurant and associated hospitality areas
- Meeting and event spaces
- Cinema facilities
- Gym and leisure areas
Working under a Construction Management approach, WCM coordinated multiple stakeholders, trades, and specialist contractors to successfully bring the hotel vision to life.
Challenges & Delivery
Taking over a partially completed project required a proactive approach to programme management, quality control, and coordination. The city-centre location added further complexity, with restricted access, neighbouring properties, and the need to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Through effective collaboration and detailed planning, WCM successfully navigated these challenges to complete the works to the required standards.
Outcome
The completed Treehouse Hotel Manchester is a distinctive addition to the city’s hospitality offering, combining innovative design with high-quality finishes and creating a unique guest experience.
WCM is delighted with the successful delivery of this landmark project and the opportunity to have played a key role in bringing the Treehouse brand to Manchester.
